4th of July

We were pretty beat when we arrived in Neah Bay. Now that the boat
had stopped rocking and rolling we get some much needed sleep.

I woke up to the thunderous sound of fireworks from the shore line.
It was, after all,4th of July and the natives at Neah Bay do enjoy
their 4th of July.

I got up and cleaned up the boat, aired out clothes and sleeping gear,
washed down the sinks and was feeling much better. Found some easy to
digest food and settled in to watch the shoreline that was crowded
with people enjoying the fine weather with swimming and fireworks.

My stomach was not ready for a big meal. An easy sandwich and water
was fine. And the fireworks continued to entertain.

As we approached twilight the local sheriff boat came by to warn us
that a commercial fireworks display would be shooting off our port
bow. He assured us that we were far enough away.

The big fireworks display was a real treat. We had front row seats.
There was no wind so we didn’t get smoked out and got to see fireworks
for the 4th! What a treat.

Finally things settled down in Neah Bay, the family fireworks became
more and more sparse. And oh so nice weather for sleep.

I slept like a rock. Deepest sleep that I’ve had in a long long time.
Getting up for morning tea and coffee was hard. I cooked up some
oatmeal for my recovering stomach.

It was time to check the engine compartment before heading off the
Port Angeles for fuel.

More to come!
